Summary

A group of circular hollows are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1945, located in a field just to the north of Stoborough. It is possible they could be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activity in this area.

Full Description

A group of circular hollows are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 (1) and 1956 (2), located in a field just to the north of Stoborough. It is possible they could be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activity in this area. Alternatively they may be natural features. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). These features are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project (3).
