Summary

A group of four buildings associated with a Nineteenth Century tramway (MDO7067) are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The tramway served clay workings which ran from West Creech to Ridge Wharf. The buildings were probably storage warehouses or tram sheds.

Full Description

A group of four buildings associated with a Nineteenth Century tramway (MDO7067) are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 (1). The tramway served clay workings which ran from West Creech to Ridge Wharf (NMR 456730). The buildings were probably storage warehouses or tram sheds. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). These features are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project (2), having since been demolished and replaced with a Yachting Centre.
