Full Description
A subrectangular pit, approximately 8.5m x 6.3m, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Crichton's Heath taken in 1949 (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of an extractive pit of probable medieval or post medieval date. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as an earthwork on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery availabel to the project (2).
