Full Description
A camouflaged structure, part of a Chain Home radar station at Hengistbury Head, is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1947 in an area now covered by housing to the west of Southbourne Coast Road. The site is formed of an oval mound, measuring 33 m by 28 m, camouflaging a structure, possibly an air raid shelter or other ancillary building associated with the Chain Home radar station. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
