A Second World War Type 22 pillbox is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of 1945 at White Pits, Hengistbury Head. Two curved slit trenches are visible as earthworks around the northern half of the pillbox. The pillbox was probably an outlying part of the defences around the Chain Home radar station on Hengistbury Head.
