Summary
Two Second World War slit trenches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1945 on the beach to the south east of the Double Dykes. The trenches may have been associated with the defences around the Chain Home radar site (see MD28870) or RAF Southbourne (see MWX1164).

Full Description
Two Second World War slit trenches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1945 on the beach to the south east of the Double Dykes. The trenches may have been associated with the defences around the Chain Home radar site (see MD28870) or RAF Southbourne (see MWX1164). The earthworks consist of two curving trenches, one with an associated bank of spoil, measuring up to 12 m in length. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
