Summary

A Second World War regimental emblem is visible as an earthwork cut into ground to the north west of Warren Hill on aerial photographs of 1945. It may have been associated with troops stationed at the Chain Home radar site (see MDO28870) or RAF Southbourne (see MWX1164) on Hengistbury Head.

Full Description

A Second World War regimental emblem is visible as an earthwork cut into ground to the north west of Warren Hill on aerial photographs of 1945. It may have been associated with troops stationed at the Chain Home radar site (see MDO28870) or RAF Southbourne (see MWX1164) on Hengistbury Head. The emblem is the shape of a badge measuring 24 m by 17 m. (1) The emblem is marked on the modern map. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). The feature was recorded as a trench by the Pillbox Study Group.
