A group of two circular depressions are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Arne Heath taken in 1942 (1) and 1947 (2). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activities in this area. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). One off these features (NGR SY96734 87301) is still visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (3). The other is now obscured under scrub.
