Full Description

A group of eight circular depressions are visible as dispersed earthworks on aerial photographs of the fields to the south-east of Middlebere Farm (1). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activity in this area. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). With one exception (NGR SY97630 86196), these features are not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2), probably having since been plough-levelled.
