Monument record MDO29004 - Possible historic extractive pit, Ower Heath, Corfe Castle
Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A pit is visible as a cropmark on oblique aerial photographs of Ower Heath taken in 1996. It is considered likely to be the remains of an extractive pit of probable medieval or post medieval date. It's close proximity to an Iron Age/Romano-british settlement (MDO7461) means that an earlier date for this feature cannot be ruled out either.
