An area of Second World War practice trenching is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the north of Ballard Down, Studland. The earthworks are formed of three zig-zag trenches aligned north-south, with connecting trenches at their northern and southern ends, aligned east-west. The earthworks are visible over an area measuring approximately 73 m by 66 m. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
