A possible post medieval extractive pit is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1942 to the south of Willow Bed, Studland. The pit is sub-oval and measures 28 m by 21 m. (1) The pit may have been used for the extraction of chalk. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
