Full Description

A possible Second World War miltary earthwork is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 and 2009 on Peveril Point, Swanage. The earthworks consist of a linear bank and ditch, are adjacent to, or associated with, an area of foxholes or slit trenches (see MDO29146). The bank is possibly a military earthwork associated with coastal defence and appears to be quite crisp on the 1946 aerial photographs. It measures 85 m in length and up to 4 m in width. (1-2) This site was digitally plotted during the South west Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
