Full Description
A 19th century or early modern groyne is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s in the intertidal zone to the east of Shore Road, Swanage. The groyne extends to the south east for a distance of 35 m. A short section of the structure extends to the north from the landward end of the groyne. (1-2) The groyne is in a different location to the those plotted on the modern OS map. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
