Full Description
The upper end of a looped and socketed bronze spearhead of the Middle Bronze Age was found circa 1946 in a garden opposite one of the Gussage churches near the Roman Road. It is in the collection of G.M. Lock of Wimborne. <1>
The precise find-spot of the spearhead could not be determined. Mr. Lock <2.1> said it came from a garden opposite Saint Michael's church (area ST 986113), and it seems likely that it was discovered when Church Cottage, ST 98611136, was being built in 1946. Mrs. Cutler <2.2>, the tenant of Church Cottage since 1946, had no knowledge of the spearhead. <2>
