Full Description
Icehouse associated with Iford House. Iford House was built in 1795. Shown on Ordnance Survey 25-inch maps epochs 1 and 2. Not shown on Ordnance Survey epoch 3 and subsequent maps, so presumably demolished in the 1920s. (1) (2) (3)
This icehouse was igloo shaped, about 3m diameter, 3.65m high and was set into a gravel bank beside the river Stour. Both the chamber and the arched entrance tunnel were brick. The source of the ice was a pond cut out beside the Stour. (4)
