Full Description

A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Newlands Warren (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of a post medieval extractive pit. Several sand pits are shown nearby on the 1st and 2nd Editions of the OS map (2-3) suggesting that this pit is probably of a similar type. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
