Summary

A linear structure is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1956, running roughly e-w along the intertidal area between Cobb Gate Jetty and Long Ledge. The feature appears to be stone foundations, possibly of a wall. It may be a ruined beach defence associated with the adjacent civil war fort.

Full Description

A linear structure is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1956, running roughly e-w along the intertidal area between Cobb Gate Jetty and Long Ledge (1). The feature appears to be stone foundations, possibly of a wall. It may be a ruined sea wall defence associated with the adjacent civil war fort. (MDO11675). The site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
