Summary
A double line of pits is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the north of Burton Freshwater. It is considered to be the site of a removed minefield dating to the Second World War. It is one of a number of beach defences protecting Freshwater Beach including barbed wire entanglements (MDO29623) and anti-tank cubes (MDO29621).

Full Description
A double line of pits is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 to the north of Burton Freshwater (1). It is considered to be the site of a removed minefield dating to the Second World War. It is one of a number of beach defences protecting Freshwater Beach including barbed wire entanglements (MDO29623) and anti-tank cubes (MDO29621). The features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
