                A dark linear mark is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 running in a curve inland from Hive Beach, across Beach Road and back to the coast (1).  The feature is considered to be a barbed wire defence dating to the Second World War.  It is one of several lines of beach defences including a coastal battery (MWX1300 and MDO29649), possible barbed wire entanglements (MDO29646) and a possible pillbox (MDO29648).   The features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
