Full Description
Plough revealed about five yards south of centre a crushed Bronze Age urn with burnt bones and ashes. <2>
Situated on high ground, the mound is composed of clay as revealed by recent ploughing. Approximately 5.0m. south from the top of the mound the plough had revealed a crushed Bronze Age cinerary urn containing burnt bones and ashes. The fragments were too small to enable the urn to be rebuilt. <1>
Bowl barrow. Diameter about 72ft, height about 7ft. Ploughed. <4>
The bowl barrow at SY 71668755 is under arable and plough-spread. Its diameter is 26.0m and its maximum height 1.4m there is no visible evidence of a ditch. Published survey (1:2500) revised. <5>
Bowl barrow located on a low ridge, 600 metres south of Whitcombe Farm. An external bank was constructed around the barrow in the 1980s. Scheduled (not bank). <7>
A Bronze Age bowl barrow, located on a low ridge 600 metres south of Whitcombe Farm, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs <8-9>. Another bowl barrow is located close by (MDO20754) and may be associated with it.
