An area of possible early modern quarry pits and mounds of spoil is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s in the area now covered by DTEO Portland Bill. The features are visible over an area measuring approximately 185 m by 230 m. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
