A military camp of possible Second World War date is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of the 1940s <4> to the south of the The Verne Citadel. The camp is visible over an area measuring approximately 265 m by 135 m. It is located to the east of a heavy anti-aircraft battery and may have been associated with it (see linked record) or with military activity within the Verne Citadel. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
