Full Description
The possible remains of a Second World War bombing decoy site are visible as group of structures on aerial photographs to the south west of Chickerell Hive Point taken in 1942 (1). The site consists of a collection of rectangular features connected by thin linears. This was a QF type decoy (N15/PT1) and was built as part of the N-series of naval decoys to deflect enemy bombing from Portland Harbour. The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project (2/3). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
