A Second World War barbed wire enclosure is are visible as a structure on aerial photographs of the 1940s on Chesil Beach, to the west of of a Royal Navy fuel store, to the west of Castletown. The site consists of a sub-rectangular barbed wire enclosure, measuring 55 m by 40 m, with a smaller barbed wire entanglement within it. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
