Alleged site of Light Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battery at Chesil. No remains. <1>
The possible site of a Second World War light anti-aircraft gun emplacement is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of the 1940s within a barbed wire enclosure (see MDO29774), to the west of of a Royal Navy fuel store (see MDO19665), Castletown. The site consists of a group of six small structures or buildings and two outlying structures to the west of the group. <2> This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
