A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Lanehouse, Weymouth taken in 1947 (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of a post medieval extractive pit. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible as a cropmark on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
