Full Description
A roadway is visible on aerial photographs of Chesil Beach taken in the 1940's (1-2). It is considered likely to be a roadway associated with Second World War military activity in this area. It extends south-eastwards along Chesil Beach and then curves north-eastwards towards Ferrybridge, where it appears to join up with Portland Beach Road. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
