A small irregular hexagonal structure is visible on aerial photographs of Bincleaves Groyne taken in 1946 (1). It is considered possible this could be the remains of a pillbox associated with Second World War military activity in this area. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is still visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project (2).
