Summary

A group of parallel linear banks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Woodbury Hill. Although they are located within the remains of an Iron Age hillfort (MDO7148) and may be contemporaty with it, it is considered most likely these have a later historic origin, possibly the remains of medieval ridge and furrow.

Full Description

A group of parallel linear banks are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Woodbury Hill (1-2). Although they are located within the remains of an Iron Age hillfort (MDO7148) and may be contemporaty with it, it is considered most likely these have a later historic origin, possibly the remains of medieval ridge and furrow. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project.
