Full Description
A circular hollow is visible on aerial photographs of Lower Hyde Heath taken in 1947 (1). It is considered possible this could be the remains of a Second World War bomb crater. Alternatively it could be the site of a post medieval extractive pit. This site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is still visible as a water-filled hollow on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
