A post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (1), located in a field to the east of Newport, Bloxworth. A chalk pit is shown at this location on the 1st Edition OS Map (2). This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is still visible on the most recent aerial imagery available to the project.
