Full Description
An undated pit was discovered during renovation work at Marks and Spencer's, South Street, Dorchester in 1994, when a hole was excavated to construct an additional pier within the north east corner of the building. The pit was about 1 m deep, with a dark loamy fill containing frequent flint nodules and other relatively large stones and several fragments of animal bone. No dating evidence was found. (1)(2)
