A post medieval chalk pit is shown at this location on the 1st and 2nd Edition OS Maps (1-2). This pit is also visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs (3), located just to the south-west of Dorset Wood, Wool. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
