Full Description
Mound, possibly originally an elongated, bowl barrow, now almost destroyed by a golf course bunker. <2>
An elongated and damaged mound measuring 15.0m. by 9.0m. and 1.0m. in height, with a central depression measuring 12.0m. by 5.0m. and 0.9m. deep. There is no visible evidence of a ditch. Because of the thickly overgrown and mutilated nature of the feature it is possible to form any conclusion as to the origin of the mound. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <3>
This densely scrub-covered area of Came Down contains many overgrown golf-tees and bunkers which once formed part of the
original (circa 1900) Came Down Golf Course Layout ). It therefore seems very probable that this alleged 'Tumulus' is a mutilated 'original bunker'. <4>
