The probable site of a Second World War bomb crater is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the north of the playing field at Portway (1). The small round hollow is 9m across and no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (2). The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
