Summary

A post medieval chalk pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the east of North Wood. It is visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946. Two additional pits are visible as cropmarks on photographs taken in 1959, lying immediately to the south.

A post medieval chalk pits is marked on the OS 1st edition map to the east of North Wood. It is visible as low earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946. Two additional pits are visible as cropmarks on photographs taken in 1959, lying immediately to the south. (1-2). The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
