Full Description

The possible site of a late nineteenth or early twentieth-century firing range is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the north of Bovington Camp on Wool Heath (1-2). The site comprises four short parallel banks, 15-18m long and a similar distance apart and was possible for small-arms. The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. They are no longer visible on recent Dorset CC digital aerial photographs, the area being covered in trees and scrub (3).
