Full Description
An extensive area of post medieval extractive pits is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and lidar imagery of 2010 across Southover Heath and Sares Wood. The earthworks can be seen over an area measuring approximately 2655 m by 1325 m. The pits are located in an area of chalk and sand formations. (1-6) The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
