Three post medieval chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and on lidar imagery of 2010, to the north east of Tincleton. The pits are located on Postsdown Chalk Formation and measure between 33 m by 26 m and 76 m by 42 m. The three pits are aligned south west-north east. The end two pits are visible as earthworks on lidar, while the central pit is only extant on historic aerial photographs. (1-2) The central pit is marked on the 1st edition OS map. (3) The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
