A circular pit is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of a field just to the south of Lytchett Matravers taken in 1947. It is considered likely to be the remains of a post medieval extractive pit or pond. Alternatively it could be the site of a bomb crater associated with Second World War activities in this area.

A circular pit is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of a field just to the south of Lytchett Matravers taken in 1947 (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of a post medieval extractive pit or pond. Alternatively it could be the site of a bomb crater associated with Second World War activities in this area. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
