A large pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Gore Heath, Wareham St Martin (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of a post medieval or modern extractive pit. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is still visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project, although now heavily obscured by scrub.
