A group of dispersed circular hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Great Ovens Hill, Wareham St Martin (1-2). They are considered likely to be the remains of bomb craters associated with Second World War activity in this area. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. Some of these hollows are still visible as earthworks on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
