An extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Wareham Forest taken in 1947 (1). A sand pit is recorded at this location on the 1st Edition OS Map (2), suggesting a post medieval origin for this pit. Earthworks associated with this extractive pit are extant on the most recent Google Earth imagery. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
