A block of allotments of possible Second World War date is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s, to the west of Northbrook Road, Swanage. (1-2) The area is not shown as allotments on the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps so may have its origins in the Second World War period. Areas were given over to cultivation during the Second World War as part of the "Dig for Victory" campaign. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
