Full Description
A possible post medieval agricultural site is visible as earthworks and cropmarks on aerial photographs of 1945 to the north of Washpond Lane, New Swanage. The site comprises: an area of possible lazy beds; an area of parallel pathways with small rectangular pits either side of them; a system of closely spaced linear banks and ditches, probably delineating planting areas, with small structures or buildings located around them. (1) An area of trackways located immediately to the west may be associated with the site (see MDO8028). A linear earthwork referred to in MDO8027 may be part of this site. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
