Full Description

The site is shown on air photos of 1947 but has since been developed, and is now represented by an amorphous mound 0.5m high and 1.5m wide. The battery is known to have been operational between 1940-4, originally had two 3-inch guns which were replaced by two 3.7-inch static guns in June 1942. The battery was manned by the 328th Battalion of the 104th Regiment. It was retained as a Nucleus Force Battery Headquarters in 1946. <1-2> A Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery is visible as structures, trackways and earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 <3>, located on the southern part of Upton Heath.
