Summary
A stone cist containing an inhumation, probably Roman, was found in the top of the mound when this barrow was opened by an antiquarian in 1833-4.

Full Description
Opened 1833-4. In central cist a primary? cremation with ashes in upright urn, ‘ornamented towards the bottom with lines running round it’. (?Late Bronze Age globular urn) other finds were four skeletons, with one of which were said to have been the, ‘undigested contents of the stomach containing the seeds of the wild raspberry which vegetated and produced plants’ a statement to be treated with reserve! There were two more skeletons and another urn with ashes and a ‘bone spearhead’, probably a pin. (Grinsell).
