A group of rectilinear buildings, linear earthworks and zig-zag practice slit trenching are visible on aerial photographs of Upton (1-4). They are considered likely to be associated with Second World War military activities in this area. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. They are not visible as on the most recent Google Earth imagery, this area having since been built over by modern development.
