A large post medieval extractive pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 on Godlingston Hill, Swanage. A second small pit is located to the south east. The pits are situated on chalk and measure approximately 100 m by 34 m and 9 m by 5 m. (1) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
